Case study
Automatic fault detection for street lighting
An avenue of ten lamps, where a fault was only known through a resident's complaint or a costly, slow night round.
A representative scenario, built from the problems we see most often in this kind of site. Exact figures vary from one installation to another.
Starting point
The section has ten lamps and two control cabinets, with switching set by an astronomical clock and maintenance organised around the complaints received.
Main problem
Between a lamp failing and it being noticed, weeks would typically pass, and the section stayed dark without the operator knowing.
Solution put in place
A controller on every lamp and a light sensor feed COA Luz, which switches the network on and off by itself and alerts maintenance the same night a lamp stops lighting.
Key results
Compared with the earlier round-based model:
time between a fault and its repair
night rounds needed for checks
consumption per circuit, with the schedule verified
Day to day
What the team sees on screen
COA Luz — Avenida em diretoThe avenue live, with each lamp's status and the day-night cycle.
Luminária 6 — FichaA faulted lamp's record, with the reset command sent remotely.
